How Pentavitin works
The natural moisturizing factor (NMF) is a complex mixture of water-soluble compounds. It is an efficient humectant and plays a significant role in absorbing and retaining water, providing hydration to the stratum corneum (a thin membrane built on top of the epidermis). Without sufficient NMF, the delicate structure of the stratum corneum is compromised.
Daily showering and environmental conditions, such as air conditioning, air travel, climate and UV radiation, reduce the levels of NMF in our skin.
Pentavitin, by DSM, is derived through the isomerization of carbohydrates similar to our own body’s carbohydrate complex of NMF. It significantly contributes to skin and scalp moisturization by reproducing the effects of NMF in the stratum corneum.
